THANK YOU FOR BLOGTOBER 2020 - OCTOBER GOALS CHECKLIST

Soweto, South Africa
I really did slack there in the end jumping one or two days, but that is
the thing with these challenges they are just hard but we fail forward. I had goals when #Blogtober began let us have a look to see if they were achieved.

1. Get My ish together (here I mean stop procrastinating time is not on my side, I'm for real here)
Got a lot done in my private life and actually here on the blog.

2. BLOG daily since it's BLOGTOBER
I did achieve this in a way 28 posts up other than 31
not too bad.

3. Upload 3 video's weekly on YouTube I would like to reach 1 500 subbies (please subscribe)
(A girl can dream right?!)
I didn't achieve this but uploaded more videos than
usual since the year began. Watch time up, gained like 18 subbies.

4. Get to 900 000 pageviews, upload frequently on Instagram and try engaging more on Twitter.
I'm 14 000 shy of achieving this goal, didn't engage much
on Instagram and i tried with Twitter but that towards the end of the month.

5. Start getting out into the world (I've been self-isolating for too long)
when I say get out to the world I mean take a walk, go the store more frequently
 I'm talking baby steps HERE.
I actually did, I went out with actual people only once though, baby steps.

6. Wash My Natural Hair Weekly (as in not neglecting my hair, it's extremely dry, everyone is like porosity porosity wtf is THAT)
Didn't achieve this, I'm actually on a 2 week frequency it's better for me, for now.

7. Be more present (aka use phone for blog related things only)
I didn't achieve this as I was blogging frequently
I was on my phone more, need to create a schedule.

I'm TIRED (Lets Catch-up Again) | Blogtober Day 23

Soweto, South Africa

The excitement of throwing a new post everyday is wearing me down, I'm not out of ideas
just the steam of trying to keep the content coming daily is a stress,
plus I have anxiety of it's extra stress (lol).
I need to start bulk creating but that is also a job on it's own but this will
be a good challenge for November and December content I guess.

Tomorrow I'm going to funeral, there is just something heavy that comes with the stress
of going to a funeral but saying goodbye to our close loved one's is something
we don't take for granted especially during these times.

The plan for this weekend is to create content and but I doubt
anything will happen since I need to spend the whole Saturday in my feelings, and the Sunday
having a major babalazi because Saturday after tears.
I tell you guys funerals are heavy and one or two drinks after the whole thing helps.

Anywho this is a filler post for Friday because I challenged myself that I
will blog the whole of this month and I will do just that.

See you tomorrow.

Inside My Decluttered Concealer Drawer | Blogtober Day 21

Soweto, South Africa
Decluttered Concealer Drawer

As I continue my Blogtober and continue sharing some #projectpan2020 looks
I came to a realization that I have been hoarding alot of make-up.
I have been going through my make-up stash and have been editing it like crazy,
the edit is going well. I'm taking it a drawer at a time because #emotionalgirl over here.
As I declutter makeup that is expired and giveaway makeup that is new and won't use
I feel lighter and dealing with 6 concealers is better than
dealing with 20 concealers that I won't use.

The concealers that I have left have everything I need from a concealer,
high coverage, blend-able, found at the drugstore,
are not prone to creasing and give a good highlight.

The concealers that are left in my stash are as follows:

NYX Professional Makeup Conceal.Correct. Contour Palette Deep 9g - R 259.95

Insta Conceal Contour - Medium - R170

Superstay full coverage under eye concealer - 40 caramel - R200

Avon True Under Eye Brightening Illuminator 6.5 grams - R129

La Girl Pro Concealer Cool Tan 980 - R64.95

Photoready candid concealer - café - R150

Hopefully my declutter inspires you aswell.

See you soon.

A Good Read - Vital Voices Book | Blogtober Day 20

Soweto, South Africa

In the almost never rear occasion of me feeling really down
which is of late is more times than usual.
I like grabbing my favorite book
Vital Voices: The Power of Women Leading Change Around the World
SHOP : HERE
because a book with different voices from woman doing good all over
the world is uplifting and vital to my soul.

What's this book about?

Vital Voices, CEO Alyse Nelson shares the stories of remarkable, world-changing women,
as well as the story of how Vital Voices was founded, crossing lines that typically divide.
For 15 years, Vital Voices has brought together women who want to
enable others to become change agents
in their governments, advocates for social justice, and supporters of democracy.
They equip women with management and business development skills to expand their enterprises and
create jobs in their communities. Their voices, stories, and hard-earned
lessons--shared here for the first time--are deeply authentic and truly vital.

Features interviews and first-person accounts of global leaders, such as
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, president of Liberia, and Aung San Suu Kyi,
Nobel Prize-winning Burmese pro-democracy leader, as well as business leaders Draws
on the work of the Vital Voices,
the organization founded by Hillary Clinton in 1997 as a government initiative that transformed into
a leading non-profit, which enables a network of 10,000 emerging women leaders in politics,
human rights, and economic development in 127 countries.
These women have gone on to mentor and train more than 500,000 Focuses on the
key elements of the Vital Voices five-step model of transformational leadership,
including how to find a voice, lead with purpose, cross lines that divide, and more
Through the firsthand accounts of trail-blazing leaders,
Vital Voices introduces unforgettable, inspiring women who are shaping our world

Why this book?

How women around the world are leading powerful change
Women's progress is global progress. Where there is an increase in women's university enrollment rates,
women's earnings, and maternal health, and a reduction in violence against women,
we see more prosperous communities, better educated, healthier families,
and the preservation of equal human rights. Yet globally, women remain the most consistently
under-utilized resource. Vital Voices calls for and makes possible
 transformative leadership around the world.

My hope for the rest of 2020 is that you become a woman who finds her vital voice.

See you soon.

The R32 Brow Pencil That Will Save Your Brow Routine | Blogtober Day 14

Soweto, South Africa

Yeap you read the correct title, today I'm talking about a brow pencil
but not just any brow pencil a brow pencil that has saved
my brow more times that once and it is the Essence Eyebrow Designer shade Brown 02

I bought this pencil as a back-up to a back up because
I just need to have more than one just in case one goes missing
or something.
I bought this before I began #projectpan2020 and I must say
that I seriously needed to stop buying because seriously
back-up to a back-up
come-on!

3 Things That I Like from This Brow Pencil

1. The price, even though when I began buying it, the price was under
R20 I'm still not complaining because it carries a lot of product.

2. The shade to skin, matches my brow lashes really well.

3. The application, applies really well and depending on how much you
would like to "pigment" you want in the brow it can go lighter
to dark in a sec.

One thing that I don't enjoy about the brow pencil is that you will
need to re-apply often especially in the tail.
Tip, set it with a brow setting gel and clean the brows with a concealer
or foundation and thank me later.

See my previous YouTube Posts, using the brow pencil.

Hope you enjoyed the post of me hyping up a brow pencil.

See you soon.

DEMAND FOR ROOIBOS BEAUTY AND BODY PRODUCTS CONTINUES TO GROW - BLOGTOBER DAY 13

Soweto, South Africa

A growing preference for natural products free from chemicals, along with a concern

for the environment is driving the demand for herbal beauty products, which includes Rooibos.

Consumers, mostly women, are on a journey of exploration.
They are enjoying new products and experimenting with new brands.
This is part of a larger generational shift of younger consumers seeking out locally made,
artisanal, natural products in all consumer categories.

Post COVID-19, the boom in home beauty treatments is likely to continue
as consumers look for more affordable options,
such as DIY pampering vs expensive salon treatments.

Rooibos, in its purest form, can take your beauty regime to the next level:
1.     The high concentration of polyphenolic compounds (micronutrients) in Rooibos tea is what makes it so sought-after as a health and beauty enhancer. Polyphenols act as antioxidants that protect the body against inflammation. It neutralises harmful free radicals that would otherwise damage cells and cause premature ageing. Drinking Rooibos tea should form part of your daily beauty routine to ensure healthy and hydrated skin.

2.     It also contains an abundance of the enzyme, superoxide dismutase, which is an effective anti-ageing substance. As such, Rooibos reduces wrinkles and boosts the production of healthy skin cells.

3.     The high flavonoid levels in Rooibos also helps to improve skin disorders like eczema. Its natural anti-inflammatory properties will help to soothe and relieve inflamed skin. Rooibos tea bags can be applied directly onto the affected skin for a few minutes. Bathing regularly or rinsing inflamed areas with the tea will provide a healing effect. Or, add cold Rooibos to a spray bottle and apply throughout the day or when discomfort is experienced.

4.     Inflammation is a major cause of acne and when your skin is damaged, it’s more vulnerable to bacteria which can aggravate acne. In addition to the tea’s anti-inflammatory response it also contains antibacterial properties that will help fight acne. Drink it regularly and/or use it as a face rinse instead of water.

5.     The polyphenols or antioxidants in Rooibos tea also strengthens hair follicles and promotes shiny and soft hair. Rinse your hair at least once a week with a strong brew of cooled down Rooibos tea for glowing locks. This is also good for treating a dry, itchy, or irritated scalp.

6.     Tired and sensitive eyes can also be treated with lukewarm Rooibos. Place tea bags on eye lids or rinse the eyes gently with the tea.

7.     Rooibos is also hypoallergenic and is therefore ideal for people with sensitive skin.

“The truth is that plants and herbs can nourish and heal from the inside out.
Using Rooibos is one of the best ways to keep
 our bodies glowing and vibrant.”

A DAILY REMINDER TO CHECK THOSE BREASTS | BLOGTOBER DAY 9

Soweto, South Africa

*A DAILY REMINDER TO CHECK THOSE BREASTS

I saw a post on Instagram showing stats on how woman of color are
far more likely to get breast-cancer than our other counterparts, got me thinking about a lot of things.
Sad things really like how two people close to me
suffered from this brutality disease and there was not a way of helping because it had already spread
so much and there was not a lot that could have been done
(academic hospital, no medical aid just being poor).

Every October we take to the streets and walk with Avon and this year that
will not be happening, however there will be a virtual walk (meaning walk at home for 5 km or 8 km
and upload pictures online to show your support.

Because most of us woman in disadvantage areas don't have access to proper healthcare and all,
the prevention is better that cure method works best for us:
Here is what (https://www.mayoclinic.org/)is saying the preventative measure's of breast cancer are:

Research shows that lifestyle changes can decrease the risk of breast cancer,
even in women at high risk. To lower your risk:

Limit alcohol.
The more alcohol you drink, the greater your risk of developing breast cancer.
The general recommendation — based on research on the effect of alcohol on
breast cancer risk — is to
limit yourself to less than one drink a day, as even small amounts increase risk.

Don't smoke.
Evidence suggests a link between smoking and breast cancer risk,
 particularly in premenopausal women.

Control your weight.
Being overweight or obese increases the risk of breast cancer.
This is especially true if obesity occurs later in life, particularly after menopause.

Be physically active.
Physical activity can help you maintain a healthy weight,
 which helps prevent breast cancer.
Most healthy adults should aim for at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic
activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity weekly,
plus strength training at least twice a week.

Breast-feed.
Breast-feeding might play a role in breast cancer prevention.
The longer you breast-feed, the greater the protective effect.

Limit dose and duration of hormone therapy.
Combination hormone therapy for more than three to five years
increases the risk of breast cancer. If you're taking hormone therapy for menopausal symptoms,
ask your doctor about other options.
You might be able to manage your symptoms with non hormonal therapies and medications.
If you decide that the benefits of short-term hormone therapy outweigh the risks,
use the lowest dose that works for you and continue to have your doctor monitor
the length of time you're taking hormones.

Avoid exposure to radiation and environmental pollution.
Medical-imaging methods, such as computerized tomography, use high doses of radiation.
While more studies are needed, some research suggests a link between breast cancer and
cumulative exposure to radiation over your lifetime.
Reduce your exposure by having such tests only when absolutely necessary.

What else can I do?

Be vigilant about breast cancer detection.
If you notice any changes in your breasts, such as a new lump or skin changes,
consult your doctor. Also, ask your doctor when to begin mammograms and
other screenings based on your personal history.

Most local clinics in the townships have really helpful staff just
don't go there with an attitude (you know what I mean),
should you suspect anything they will guide you
through to relevant assistance centers.

Stay strong woman
