REVIEW | REVLON PHOTOREADY CANDID ENTIRE COLLECTION

Soweto, South Africa
REVLON PHOTOREADY CANDID ENTIRE COLLECTION REVIEW
Hey guys, hopefully everything is well and okay.
I have been meaning to do this review for the longest time but I now
feel like the time is right since it is foundation week and all.

Today I am going in on the new *REVLON PhotoReady Candid Collection
A little side note: Revlon has been killing it with releases theses days and for someone
like me who focuses on mainly drugstore make-up this makes me happy. They are not only bringing
us limited edition collections but they are also coming through with full collections like the one I'm
reviewing today. My thoughts on the Candid Collection, let us jump straight into it.

REVLON PhotoReady Rose Glow Hydrating + Illuminating Primer
For Hydration and Luminosity

The Claim & Product:
A water-based primer designed to boost your skin radiance and help it feel hydrated.
Revlon says that the hydrating formula of the primer is ultra-light and glides on easily
to help create the prefect dewy finish.

My Thoughts:
The packaging is super slick and just draws you in from out far, the light pink bottle
is really doing the things for me, plus the dropper really shows that REVLON really took their
 time to make this one.
The formula is water based which means it absorbs really quick in the skin, which it does and leaves
behind some "goldish specs". The primer does not fill in any pores it just a hydrating primer
I feel suited more for people with dry skin.
On first time use the dropper might not work but it is just a reminder for you to
shake the bottle then you will be good to go.

Overall the packaging really sold and the other extras are just a bonus.

REVLON PhotoReady Rose Glow Hydrating + Illuminating Primer
 For Hydration and Luminosity
RSP: R249.00

REVLON PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer

The Claim & Product:
REVLON says that this a skincare-inspired concealer to correct under eyes,
infused with antioxidant, anti-pollution
and anti-blue light ingredients to help reduce the signs of aging and prevent
against the damaging effects of
pollution. REVLON also says that the concealer is ultra-blendable, buildable
and medium to a full coverage.

My thoughts:
The packaging for the concealer is slick as it allows for easy pick up of the product.
The oval doe-foot applicator picks up a lot of product in one go which makes
for great application especially around the under eye area.
The concealer applies really smooth, does not dry up quickly which allows for a really easy blend.
The concealer comes in 12 shades the lightest being shade 022 Sand and the darkest
being shade 075 Hazelnut.

The shades that I use are 065 Cafe for a bright under eye and when
I like to keep in natural I go in with shade 070 Nutmeg
and for a slight contour I go in with shade 075 Hazelnut.
RevlonSA could have more shades in the concealer realm like 2 more darker shades after 075 Hazelnut, one or two shades between 075 Hazelnut and 070Nutmeg
however that is my opinion.
I like how the concealer and doe-foot applicator is really on top there with
some of the best applicators I've used.

RSP : R149.99
Launch price R129.99 valid until 16 September 2019

REVLON PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation

The Claim & Product:
The foundation is build as an extension to your skincare.
Has a natural finish, with a thick and creamy texture.
The formula is skincare inspired to apply like a moisturizer
and blends invisibly to even out skin tone weightlessly.

My Thoughts:
The foundation packaging is really similar to the concealer, however this one has a pump.
I would say that the foundation is a light to medium foundation buildable yes
but to a medium coverage, to keep things
short I would say that this one is a true medium coverage foundation.
It is a liquid foundation and gives off a natural finish which is great for everyday work-school.
One pump moisturiser, one or two pumps foundation and you will be good to go.

The foundation comes in 12 shades the lightest is 200 Nude and the darkest being 560 Espresso.
The foundation comes in 31 shades in total however REVLONSA decided to bring in 12 shades maybe to test out our market and stuff who knows, maybe they will bring
out more shades at a later stage.
The foundation is really great for your true make-up no make-up days,
the formula is light covers your foundation well
however not sheer. I would say if you are a student or have a busy schedule and have no time to do
a face that takes more than 5 minutes to make, then this foundation is for you.

RSP : R149.99
Launch price R129.99 valid until 16 September 2019

REVLON PhotoReady Candid Anti-Pollution Setting Powder

The Claim & Product:
The powder is lightweight helps blurs imperfections, leaving skin with a natural-looking finish.
Available in three universally translucent shaes with a built-in sifter,
lightly sets makeup and reduces shine.
The 3 shades are 001 Light, 002 Medium, 003 Dark

My Thoughts:
The first things that drew me into this setting powder was the launch price
of R129.99, secondly how finely milled the texture was and ofcoz the 3 shades.
I use 002 and 003 frequently. The powder plays well with the concealer and is non drying and does not leave especially the under-eye are looking dehydrated
(if you have used a powder you most definitely know the feeling)

If you are looking into getting in the translucent powder game I suggest that you try out the powders.

RSP : R149.99
Launch price R129.99 valid until 16 September 2019

My Final Thoughts
REVLON came out with guns blazing when it did this collection,
if REVLON Insta-filter had a baby
the Candid Collection would be one (",).
I'm happy with the price and the whole aesthetic of this collection.
Judging from my social media this collection is a firm favourite and will be on the
look out for an extended shade range launch in the future as this collection
is great for the young and old.

Hope you enjoyed reading my review as much as I did writing it out.

Hope to see you soon.

REVIEW | YARDLEY LONDON EVEN COMPLEXION FOUNDATION

Soweto, South Africa
Hey guyzies, hopefully you are doing great today.
Recently Yardley South Africa collaborated with Bonnie Mbuli (see post here) to create
a shade for their Even Complexion Foundation and the Stayfast foundation.
This got me thinking about the whole foundation (Even Complexsion Foundation), so let us see
what the foundation has in-store for us.

The claim:
Yardley says the following regarding the foundation, contains porcelain flower extract
and synerlight for a moisturising, complex perfecting foundation.
Contains SPF20 to help protect against the harmful and ageing effects
 of UV rays.
Yardley says that the foundation
has a medium coverage and is dermatologically approved.
The product:
Comes in a glass container that is transparent and has a pump, happy with the
packaging because it shows that the brand is serious with the product.
Side note: Drugstore game has really come up, I see alot of
brands coming out with make-up that has pumps and this makes me happy
because it shows that as consumers
our voices have been heard.
Everything regarding the packaging is super nice and when it comes to the Limited Bonnie Edition
the blush pink B in the bottle is really extra special.

My Thoughts:
Liquid foundations make me happy and this one does not disappoint at all.
The coverage is medium and build-able to a full coverage in my opinion.
Side note: I really missed writing out reviews like this and the way I planned it
this week is that I just review foundations and typing out the reviews
is really decreasing my anxiety  (",).
The foundation comes in 8 shades, 9 with the Melanin shade
and the prices is also worth it because of the
coverage it gives, this foundation has a natural finish so setting the foundation is really necessary
as it will make it last so I suggest the Yardley Even Complexion Pressed Powder.

My Verdict:
If you like a liquid foundation that does not feel heavy to the face
but gives your full coverage, then I suggest that you give this foundation a try.

Hope you enjoyed this review.

Review | LA Girl Pro Matte HD

Soweto, South Africa

Hey guys welcome back to the blog, long time no posts but other than
sharing with you my boring life updates I would just rather do what I do
best and that is content creation.

I love wearing foundations and the more affordable/drugstore, full coverage the better.
This week I will be tackling a few foundations as there have been a lot of
exciting launches lately which I'm super excited for, plus some foundations that
I have been meaning to try
blog/vlog about but I couldn't hence Foundation Week
(as I aim to bring the best new foundations Clicks and Dischem have to offer us).

Today I'm reviewing the LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation
as I got to try it out this Winter.
The claim:
LA Girl claims the following regarding the foundation
Medium to full coverage.
Smooth long wear suede finish.

The product:
LA Girl foundation comes with a pump and the container is glass.
I know a brand has invested well in a product when they also invest in a glass container,
this makes us drugstore make-up buyers really happy.

My experience:
A pump should be standard when it comes to foundations and I'm really
happy that this LA Girl Foundation comes
with one. Two pumps for a medium coverage would do however I also pump
one more extra for a full coverage.
The foundation does say medium to a full coverage and the claim is true.
The foundation dries matte I would suggest that you go in with a moisturizing primer or else dry patches might comes through especially
if you are trying to cover up some blemishes or have dry skin like me.

My verdict:
The foundation is a firm favorite, the packaging, the coverage and the wear is great.
If you are looking to extend your foundation game,
I would suggest that you give this one a try.

Thank you soo much for reading my review.

Food Friday | Peanut Butter and Chocolate Pancakes

Soweto, South Africa
Happy Food Friday and today is an easy one, we are making pancakes.
Taken directly from the my Recipes Book we received via pr a few months back.
Hopefully you get to try the pancakes this weekend with your family.

The ingredients are nice and easy, plus affordable as this recipe does not need much
it just needs items like flour, an egg, sugar, etc
hopefully already in your cupboard.

INGREDIENTS

makes (10 to 12 pancakes)
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 egg
1tsp vanilla essence
1/4 cup of smooth peanut butter
1 1/8 cup flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp Royal Banking Powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup of roughly chopped up Cadbury Bournville chocolate

METHOD:

Mix together milk, egg, vanilla essence and peanut butter until smooth.
In a separate bowl mix together flour, sugar, royal baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Then add the wet ingredients to the dry ones.
Then add the chopped up chocolate and fold into batter gently.
In a non-stick pan on a medium heat start cooking your pancakes.

Use large spoon to measure the pancakes. When the batter begins to
form bubbles on top flip them over with a spatula.
Cook the pancakes for 1-2 minutes until both sides asre golden brown.

In a small bowl or jug, mix your peanut butter and maple syrup with a fork then heat the mixture in a microwave for about 30 seconds.
Stir and combine.
Pour the peanut butter over the top of the pancakes when serving and sprinkle
the top with a bit more
chopped up Cadbury Bournville chocolate.

My Thoughts:

Doing the pancakes was great and easy, however like all my pancakes
I prefer doing the batter overnight.
I used the Cadbury Milk Chocolate instead and it came out fine,
Bornville will be used in December LOL.

Hope you will enjoy making the pancakes this weekend with your family.

See you soon.

Why #ItsEasyWithEats | UberEats Now in Soweto

Soweto, South Africa
Why #ItsEasyWithEats
I put the app to the test and the results may surprise you

I’m a foodie at heart and creating, tasting and enjoying the different flavours available to us, on a local scale, amazes me. We have the flavours of the world right at our doorstep, and it doesn’t take much to taste spicy curries inspired by India or sushi from Japan and everything in between.

For me, while international dishes are captivating and delicious, local will always have a special place in my heart. Be it from the decadently marinated ribs to the fluffy, rich, melt-in-your-mouth pap, you can’t convince me that anything tastes better than a homegrown meal,
prepared in our own neighbourhood.

With Uber Eats officially launching here (Soweto) in May, I knew where some of my extra money would be spent. Money well spent might I add. Having my favourite local restaurants available meant that Rib Boys’ famous grilled chicken was just a mere  35 minutes away, which was almost too good to be true. So, I decided to test the app, and see how well it would do against what I needed.

Downloading the app is super-easy, free and doesn’t require much space (Android users can find it at the Google Play Store, while Apple users can download it from IOS). I set up the app, by signing in with my info from the Uber app. Linking the accounts enabled me to order from Uber Eats, while on a Uber trip.. Functionality at its finest.
I added in my address, and the app automatically updates with all restaurants available within my area. My heart was happy to see Soweto stalwarts like Chaf Pozi and Just Badela available and ready to order from. I felt for Rib Boys, and the app immediately provided me with the options available. While this particular restaurant  menu isn’t as extensive as the sit-down, it offers the fan favourites, including my own, which is the Combo 4 wings and 4 riblets. I added this to my basket, where the app prompts you to make any special requests. I know I like my chicken a little bit crispy but still tender, so that was my request. I then proceeded to place my order, selecting payment by card, as it’s easier for me (you can pay cash if you prefer) I placed my order at 13:00, wanting to see how well the app would perform during peak periods.

Once the order went through, I was able to track its process, from my food being made to the delivery-partner on his way to the restaurant to collect it and bring home to me. The app had a suggested delivery time of 13:30, so I had some time to spare while waiting. I used this to check out some of the other offerings, knowing that next on my list was Chaf Pozi and their Snack Plate. The app also easily categorises various eating options from breakfast to fast-food and includes dedicated vegan options as well. The variety is quite extensive and makes navigating a craving (but not sure from where to order) easy and effective.

I was sent push notifications, at every delivery stage from the app, right up until it was two-minutes from my door, asking me to meet my delivery-partner outside. This notification appeared at 13:24, which was five minutes earlier than the ETA. The delivery-partner was friendly, sported in some Uber Eats swag including a jacket and helmet, making it easy to identify him.
The food was still warm, nicely packaged and had everything included that I would have received should I have sat down. I had the option of requesting cutlery but I declined as I was at home. I dug into the deliciously marinated riblets, that had the signature sauce I love so much, while my chicken was tender and just a bit crispy! Perfect! After, I was able to provide feedback on the delivery and the taste of the food by rating it a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’.

Overall, I'm as impressed with the efficiency of the app as I am with its ability to make this process as easy and stress-free as possible. I’m busy with so many things at once, so it's difficult to keep track of what needs to be done. Knowing that my meals are just a few taps away, from a reliable app and a selection of my favourite restaurants, is excellent. I also found a rather useful option, allowing me to schedule an order up to a week in advance, so even if I get caught up in my daily activities, when the doorbell rings, my heart and tummy will smile.

Well done Uber Eats, on giving us a selection, while still empowering local restaurants to make use of this platform. I look forward to many more orders, from other local favourites!

It is in fact #EasyWithEats
