A Fun Christmas Lunch 2019

Soweto, South Africa
Merry Christmas guyzies, hopefully everything went well and that your
Christmas was just amazing.
This year I spent Christmas with my two older sisters and our kids
which was just wholesome.
As I get older Christmas means spending time with family
 and eating loads of food.

My sister was in-charge of the main and dessert dishes however
I made the starters just to take the pressure off, off her.
The day went by quick and just before you know it we were all full
without even eating dessert, the dessert was super
enjoyable the morning after though.

The Starter

- Prawns
- Chicken Wings
- Meaty Samoosa's
- Sparkling Wine
- Orange/Guava/Fruit Juice

The Main

- Turkey
- Gamon
- Sauteed Red Cabbage
- Steammed baby carrots
- Grilled Potatoes
- Tuna & Macaroni
- Green Bean salad
- Gravy

- White &Red wine
- Sparkling wine
- Vodka/Whiskey/Amarula
- Fruit Juice

Dessert

(pictures not take because the kids got to it before I could take them)
- Chocolate Cake
- Triffle
- Vanilla Cake
Overall Christmas is a fun time to spend with the family and friends.
Take advantage of it because as the years go by
the family unit gets smaller and smaller.

Take care guyzies.

See you soon.

NEW IN | Daily Deep Cleaning Gel

Soweto, South Africa
Hey guyzies, hopefully your day is going great and okay.
My skincare mainly consists  of a cleanser, toner, serum and a moisturizer.
When things get bad then I will mask.
So when I got the opportunity to give the new Benzaderm cleanser a try
I said for sure I will.

The claim:
Cleanser for removal of blackheads and skin impurities.
Benzaderm Daily Deep Cleaning Gel is suitable for all skin type.
It contains a special combination of Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid and tiny non-plastic exfoliating
beads that deeply cleanses and unclogs pores to help you get rid of those stubborn blackheads.
Your skin is then cleaner, you can feel it softer to the touch.
My Thoughts:
For me Benzaderm is a brand that is used mainly by people with mostly
acne problems, or atleast that is what I associate the brand with.
What I expected from the cleanser on first application was something that
will go hard on my skin and did it the exact opposite, it just felt good.
I like that the beads also dissolve in the water and don't linger on the face after cleansing.
I have been using it the cleanser for a few weeks now and I have nothing bad to say about it.

For more information on Benzaderm products you can see the following link:

Mommy Monday | Last Post

Soweto, South Africa
Hey guyzies hopefully everything is well and okay.
Before there was Mommy Monday there was Manicure Monday's
and I loved that feature then I became a Mom and thought it would be a great idea for
me to share Mommy content however, being a Mom is not easy and this
feature here on the blog is not going well, or let me just say
I'm not sharing the content the way I would like to share it.

So for the rest of the year this feature will be on hold and I
will see it in 2020 hopefully more refreshed.

If no one told you this today, Mom! you are doing a great job.

See you soon.

Scottish Leader X I See A Different You Launch Limited Edition Soweto Heart Whisky

Soweto, South Africa
(*image)

The vibrancy of Soweto meets pioneering Scottish whisky craftsmanship, in the latest collaboration between I See A Different You and Scottish Leader.

Wednesday 30 October 2019 - Scottish Leader has launched a new limited edition, SA-exclusive whisky, Scottish Leader Soweto Heart, with I See A Different You (ISADY). The creation of this whisky marks a culmination of the brand’s two-year partnership with this creative collective, who have made it their mission to change negative misconceptions about Soweto, primarily through photography.

The two founding members of ISADY – Fhatuwani Mukheli and Vuyo Mpantsha– were very involved in the conception and making of Soweto Heart. Scottish Leader invited them to visit Scotland and meet with the Scottish Leader blending team, headed up by Dr Kirstie Maccullum, one of the few female Master Distillers in the world.

“Scotland was a mind-blowing experience,” says Mukheli.  “How the mixing of all the elements comes together to make a Scottish Leader whisky is incredible; it is in fact both an art and a science. The team at the distillery were nothing but edifying and welcoming. We told them about some of our favourite flavours back home and the wonderful memories they conjur, which they captured beautifully.”

Although Scottish Leader Soweto Heart was crafted in Scotland, it is definitely inspired by South Africa, with tasting notes of milk chocolate and toffee to satisfy the South African sweet tooth. The label and carton design also reflects the collaboration between Scotland and South Africa. The result is a fusion of the renowned Scottish tartan and a more contemporary South African pattern, beautifully brought to life with vibrant colours and textures.

“We at Scottish Leader are thrilled to share this new variant with South African whisky lovers. While we have had the pleasure of working with ISADY on previous projects, this is definitely the most exciting venture for all of us,” says Lynsay Sampson, Marketing Manager: Whisky and White Spirits at Distell. “ISADY have welcomed us into their world, and we wanted to extend the same courtesy by welcoming them to our home in Scotland.”

“ISADY embodies the Scottish Leader philosophy that magic can be found simply by taking a different view on the world around you.  They have been instrumental in dispelling long-held negative perceptions about Soweto, and showing instead the pride of Sowetans, their sense of style, their love of art, and the vibrance and energy of the township. Like ISADY, Scottish Leader pushes the boundaries,” continues Sampson.

ISADY has been committed to their vision of reframing the stories of Soweto since 2011, when they launched a photographic blog showcasing images that captured their neighbourhood’s uniqueness and contradictions. ISADY’s work has now evolved into the creation of an agency that specialises in photography and film.

To celebrate the launch of Soweto Heart and showcase its namesake’s origin and heritage with pride, ISADY will be visiting and documenting a few of Soweto’s diverse neighbourhoods over the next few weeks. These will include Pimville, the real home of ISADY; Dube, made famous by Moroko Swallows; and Mfulo, best known for having the first movie house in Soweto – Eyethu Bioskop.

“Soweto Heart is a metaphor for having the capacity to see the world differently. It’s more about an attitude than an area code. It’s the story of contemporary, forward-thinkers who take the time to look a little deeper. This is what both ISADY and the Scottish Leader brand are all about,” concludes Sampson.

The limited edition Scottish Leader Soweto Heart is available nationwide while stocks last. RSP: R279.00

FOOD FRIDAY | YUMMY LASAGNA

Soweto, South Africa
Hey guys, hope your week was great.
It's a new month and Food Friday's are still going strong.
Lasagna is a great comfort food and my family loves it.

From what I can tell each and every family makes lasagna different and ends up
tasting different and that is what is great about it, because the spices and the
oven used is different.

For me I use pre-made lasagna sheets, naturalist would want you
to make them from scratch but I don't have time for that, maybe one day when I'm a
homemaker, but for now the strips work just as great.

Prep Time:45 minutes

INGREDIENTS:
- Lean mince
- Gouda cheese
- Onion
- Tomato
- Fresh Garlic & Ginger mix
- Tumeric
- Cumin
- White Papper
- Slt
- Tomato Puree
- Tomato paste
- Oil
- Pre-cooked lasagna sheets

  White sauce
- Butter
- Flour
- Milk

Lasagna is a quick meal that just makes for a great fast food, and
the great thing here is you know what the ingredients are.

Cheers to a new month.

See you soon.

FOOD EVENT | CURRY & CRAFT FESTIVAL

Soweto, South Africa
Hey guyzies, hopefully everything is well and okay.
I'm a huge bunny chow fan and I when I got the opportunity to attend
a curry cook off event where I get to taste a variety of food
I couldn't say no.

The Curry Festival is the first of it's kind to be held in Gold Reef City Casino
and the event organizers
mentioned something about the event moving from one province to the next which would be great, because sometimes
other markets tend to loss their tenacity when they are held in one area and become boring.

For more information on the next market please see the following link

Till the next festival.

Mommy Monday - Dealing with My Postpartum Depression

Soweto, South Africa
Hey Mommies, hopefully you are still well and okay.
Post partum depression, where should I start?! Glad I didn't chuck down those 2 bags
of chips again and instead I decided to write my feeling down.

Motherhood is not for the faint hearted hey (enter with caution),
and I'm faint hearted so this depression
sneaked on me pretty quick and I just didn't have the heart to fight it because
I am a self loather, always thinking too much about everything and being emotional about everything.

When you have a moment one day, I will tell you how I lost everything that I
built in 12 years in a period of 6 months (maybe that is what took my post partum depression
to full on depression but my triggers have been everywhere these days).
Maybe I'm writing this as a plea for help or maybe because I'm a self-loather I'm just writing this
because I want someone's attention and seeking help? I just don't know.
If you have a psychologist
friend please ask them what this is because my local clinic does not have such help,
or they will say I'm looking for attention.

Last month on the radio news I heard a story of a 27 year old mom who
hung herself at Bara Hospital
at a post natal ward, and couldn't help but cry because I kinda know those emotions.
wuuuu this is some heavy stuff for a Monday post.

My family gives me strnght but sometimes I feel like they don't understand the
internal demons that I have to fight within each day.
Having lost my Mom and Grandma before I was a Mom is also a huge knock because that
tree of life situation where they were supposed to pass down their
knowledge to me got lost in translation, luckily I have my older sisters though.
I can't lie this week has been really different, my older sister suggested that I take up exercising
(maybe she didn't want to tell me directly that I have gained approximately
15kg's in the last six months which
could be directly proportional to my weight and the way that I'm feeling lately, but but
I can't help but eat all the time) but her suggestion is vastly making a difference,
she also suggested I have a daily routine which I'm working towards.

Ooooh, if I publish this post big ups to me.

I will see you soon with a lighter post I promise.

Later
