Goodbye Manicure Monday | Weekend Recap Award Shows & All

Hey Loves hope your weekend was far better than mine. I had the weekend off and I had planned to do the most however I ended up doing zilch-zero blogging wise.
I spent most of my time with my sisters and we just watched some TV... speaking of that the METRO-FM awards (for my international readers Metro FM is a well know Radio Station in South Africa and they also host award shows). such a sad day for Babes Wodumo and Kwesta talk about daylight robbery,,, (and I voted).

As for Album of the Year I clap once, I can't even rap one song from it and stuff but it won (claps again once). I was not really impressed with everything, production wise, performance wise, everything wise.
Maybe it is true hey, like Black Coffee the Famous Dj said on Twitter "MetoFM should rather stick on making good radio and stop making award shows"
Also watched Date My Family for the first time this year, and those twins were dead they had no energy anywhooooo each to it's own, but that teacher in the end she was all moody, (woman why are you there?).  Our Perfect Wedding I did enjoy it, great wedding with a bit of drama who is complaining, LOL.

Back to the blog side of things...

I really do enjoy doing Manicure Monday posts but I feel like there is something more I can add and till further notice this will be my final Mani Monday post.
I'm not ending the series just placing it on hold as there are new projects launching on the blog soon.

As I blog daily (Monday - Friday) I want to try and produce different content.
I hope that you have enjoyed this series.

Till next time.

Event | POND'S Pimple Clear Launch

Tuesday night I attended an event at Sandton City hosted by Ponds South Africa as they launched their latest innovative product set to target pimples in just 3 days called Pimple Clear.

Being a sister to a teenage girl who is starting to have break-outs and having to do make-up on brides who get so stressed out by their weddings I know pimples so well and having a new product in the market that is set to target these problems, well the Ponds Institute had me at Pimple Clear.

On of the speakers Dr Mpofu a leading South African Dermatologist also highlighted how people get pimples and the lengths they go through to treat and erase them. Things that trigger pimples are using makeup with ingredients that can cause irritation, over-dying your face, putting pressure on your face, using dirty make-up applicators and also our diets. To treat pimples people take antibiotics, use toothpaste as a masks which is clearly a problem...
Ponds being South Africa's leading skincare brand for over 150 years has decided to something about this issue, it has released two products aimed to target pimples. The products are Pond's Pimple Clear FaceWash (main ingredients are Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Aqua (water), Salicyclic Acid, etc) and Ponds Pimple Clear Leave-on Expert Clearing Gel (main ingredients Aqua (water), Dimethicone, etc).

Ponds claims that the products are set to reduce the appearance of pimples in just 3 days, well I will be the judge of that as I plan a reviewing the products soon.

1. Pimple Clear Facial Foam 43ml - R27.00
2. Pimple Clear Leave On Gel 18ml - R47.00

So come to Sandton City from the 22nd of February till the 12th of March 2017,
to experience the new POND's Pimple Clear range...
and don't forget to hashtag #StopHiding #ThePondsInstitute

Progress | Weigh-In-Wednesday

Hey guys!!! hope all is well, we are half way through the week and can it end already because this weekend I’m off and I'm going to be doing the most...(hopefully).

Weight-loss for me is a journey and hey as long as I'm losing something each week then that means I'm making progress, right!

I saw an Insta post and the person was like don't use the scale blah blah blah and I'm like do whatever works for you. In my case I will be tracking my weight-loss journey with the scale cause I feel like that works best for me, heck I even upgraded to a digital scale so that
I can track my progress well.

I don't want to lie and say that losing weight or being on a weight-loss journey is easy and because I'm an emotional eater and can down a big bag of potato chips in a minute then it makes this journey even harder.

This past week was also hard because I didn't go to the gym even once as my work schedule was crazy so I just drank alot of water throughout and did some stomach exercises.

Losing this weight will be hard but I'm loving what I'm doing so far.

That's it for this week’s progress hope that it motivates you also J

NEW IN | TAKEALOT Essence, Revlon, Skin Republic

Hey guys, about two weeks ago I was just creating wishlists online
and TAKEALOT.COM popped up and I ended up buying a few items there,
which I have been eyeing for a while as they are quite difficult to get in Soweto.

To think that I have only been doing my brows with a brow pencil and the brow comb forever I thought that it was time I invested on some brow gel and powder. But before I even invest on the expensive stuff I thought that I should try the drugstore one's first and see what the hype is about really on powder/gel brow products

I also bought some Skin Republic Collagen Under Eye Patch and if you follow me mostly on snap (@zanelemondi) you will clearly see that I have a very dark under eye area and this year
I thought that I should try some of these products (I will be testing them out soon and you know me, I will give you an honest opinion).

Another thing that I bought was the Revlon Eye, Cheek and Lip Palette Seductive Smokies which I have been eyeing for a while, tried searching for local reviews and they were limited, I will be reviewing this palette shortly.

I think that my online beauty buys for this month were not bad at all.

Shopping List:
1. Revlon Eye, Cheek and Lip Palette Seductive Smokies - R214 ($16.44)
2. Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara- No. 02  - R51 ($3.92)
3. Essence Eyebrow Designer - 02 Brown - R28 ($2.15)
4. Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set - R51 ($3.92)
5. Skin Republic Collagen Under Eye Patch - R43 ($3.30)

Manicure Monday | Not So Expensive

Hey Loves, Happy Monday, let it be a productive week please.
I feel like how you approach your Monday plays a huge role on how the rest of your week turns out, well those are just my thoughts.

I love cute affordable products and when I saw the R14.99 ($1.15) nail care set from the PEP boutique I just had to get it, great finds must not be expensive all the time.
I like reviewing stuff that is not expensive and won't break the bank and I think with this nail-care set is most definitely a bargain.

This weekend was a bit hectic as I was working throughout, I bumped into someone I went to school with back in 2008 the pleasures of working in the "City".

This week will be busy as I have a major project that I will be sharing with you throughout my Instagram and I'm so excited can't wait to share it.

I hope that your week goes well and yes, lets do this...

Weigh-In Wednesday : Let My Journey Begin...

Ooh gosh, weight-loss posts are the worst because they are sooo personal but one of my goals for this year is to loose weight and be healthy...
I just thought that I should finally share this post with you because I have been struggling lately to stick to my weightloss routine.... I been eating a lot and not going to the gym and I feel like I'm cheating on myself.

So the best way I feel like I will stick to my journey is to actually share it with you and hopefully my journey being out there will actually motivate me more (cause honestly who wants to share their "dirty laundry and not make it clean").

My starting weight on the 12th of January was 98kg my height is 176cm
So according to the BMI calculator I'm as follows:

BMI = 31.64 kg   (Obese Class I)
Normal BMI range: 18.5kg/m2 - 25 kg/m2
Normal BMI weight range for the height: 57.3kgs - 77.4 kgs
Ponderal Index: 17.98 kg/m3
*calculator

I was obviously shocked cause I always known I was overweight, but not obese so I had to do something about it...So currently I have signed up for my gym classes and I'm doing the work.
I'm happy that I'm actually losing weight but I want to do more going forward and I just hope that sharing this blogpost with you will actually amp up my weight-loss journey...

From now on every Wednesday I will be sharing with you my struggles and everything that comes with my weighloss journey.
I also hope that this post will also inspire you to start your weightloss journey with me.

xx
See you soon!!!

African Extracts Purifying Range Review

African Extracts | Cleanse, Tone & Moisturise
Happy Valentines Day, my wish for you is nothing by a healthy looking skin!!!

If you have been following the blog & me on snapchat (snapchat - zanelemondi) then you will know that the skincare products I use on the daily to especially cleanse, tone and moisturize with are the African Extracts products.

Last year I won a year supply of their products and I have given away most of the products to family and friends I have also saved some for a huge giveaway I'm planning later this year, I'm just waiting for the products to accumulate and all *wink*.

Today I just thought that I should give you a review because I have been using African Extracts Purifying Range for a while now.

Face Wash:
African Extracts says the following "cleans deep down to the pores for problem free skin. Enriched with Rooibos and Baobab extract, which are renowned for their soothing and calming properties and skin clearing benefits. Spot control face wash leaves skin feeling refreshed and invigorated".

I just wet my face first, apply a very small amount cause a lil goes a long way. I like that the facewash is dry skin friendly as it does not leave my skin feeling dry and looking ashy.

Toner:
African Extracts say that the toner removes impurities and tightens pores.

My very first experience on using a toner back in high school was very traumatic, the toner was alcohol based and it cracked my face to the core and ever since then I wasn't toning that much. Since the African Extracts Toner is water based I was like let me give it a try, and I have been using it daily ever since because yet again the product does not leave my face feeling dehydrated, but it leaves it feeling clean.

Moisturizer:
African Extracts says that the moisturizer is "easily absorbed, non-greasy moisturizer works in two ways to reduce shine and help prevent blemishes".

Also I love using this moisturiser as it adds moisture to my face without making it feel greasy, but the only down fall here is has no SPF such a bummer.

My verdict:
I do like that the African Extracts Purifying Range is affordable and dry skin girl friendly. It is also good to know that the range is paraben free and that they don't test on animals.

P.S. Skincare is different for everyone and hey if you just use a facewash and moisturizer then you are good to go - good for you sister. On my side I just feel like the more the better, bring that serum, the spot control, bring that under-eye cream, that scrub, etc....

Hope you have enjoyed my review!!!

Manicure Monday | With A Few Beginner Blogging Tips

A Few Beginner Blogging Tips
I never really do blogging tips on the blog because I feel like I'm a beginner myself and what do I know about blogging! The information I have is quite limited however I will share with you all that I know and what I'm implementing and how it is working and sometimes not for me....

If you have been following my blog you would also know that I like to keep things short and simple, so without wasting any of your time, lets get to it.

Love to blog:
I say love to blog because there will be times when you don't feel like writing anything, but when you love something you will make sure that you nurture it and make it grow.
In simple terms have passion, so that you create posts for your blog also patience to wait and watch it grow.

How are you going to do this:
Simple by making a schedule on how much content you would like out there some people blog daily, others every other day, what ever it is choose it, stick to it and make it work.

Get your content out there:
How? through social media obviously, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and even sending family and friends whatsapps every now and then just for them to see your work.

Have fun!!!

Well that's it for now, if you like posts like these and would like for me to share even more blogging tips, please feel free to leave a comment below with suggestions on which tips you would like to see next.

Revlon Colorstay 2-in-1 Compact MakeUp & Concealer Review

Revlon Colorstay 2-in-1 Compact MakeUp & Concealer Review
The claim:
Revlon claims that the COLORSTAY™ 2-IN-1 COMPACT MAKEUP & CONCEALER is "Expertly matched shades of makeup and concealer for a flawless, longwearing look that’s perfect for you. Smooth, blend-able formula with build-able coverage and a demi-matte finish. Compact includes a unique applicator for precise application and a mirror for touch-ups on the go".

The product:
The COLORSTAY™ 2-IN-1 COMPACT MAKEUP & CONCEALER was launched early last year and comes in a beautiful compact make-up casing that contains a cream concealer, cream foundation, mirror and a sponge. From just looking at the product you can tell that the coverage you will get is probably is full and thick. I also like that the compact make-up container does show you the product so you can sort of tell if the shade will match your face.
My experience
I bought the foundation also early last year never touched it, don't know why (please don't ask LOL), then towards the end of the year I tried it.
Took the application sponge that came with the product applied the foundation (by the way I'm shade camarel 1) then I hated it, the applicater sponge just took alot of make-up and I couldn't blend it on my face properly.
Cleared my face, took my foundation brush bush tried applying the foundation again, then the foundation could't blend, maybe cause it was also hot cause it was in the height of summer?
Fast foward a weeks later, after watching some YouTube tutorials on the foundation a people where using beauty sponges to apply the foundation, then aaaaah the foundation blended nicely.

The foundation is on the thicker side so please a little goes a long way, plus since it is buildable it is also great.

My verdict
Make a damp beauty sponge your friend when using this foundation and it will be your favourite.
The price is also great since it also includes a concealer which is also great and I'm sure you have seen other reviews on it, and so far no one has complained about the concealer.
If you are looking for that all day foundation, that won't budge I suggest you give this one a try.

Avon True Matte Eyeshadow Quad Au Naturale Review

Avon True Matte Eyeshadow Quad Au Naturale
I'm loving eyeshadows lately and this year I'm just going for it, buying more affordable eyeshadows and actually using them. I got the Avon True Matte Eyeshadow Quad at an event late last year and I only began using towards the end of December and even more frequently now, here is why....

The product:
The Avon True Matte Eyeshadow Quad Au Naturale comes in a beautiful black mini casing, has four (hence quad) matte shades and the texture is really silky and but great for matte shades.

The shades are as follows: 1 - warm nude 2 - warm taupe light brown 3 - neutral chocolate medium brown. 4 - dark chocolate cool brown.
Avon True Matte Eyeshadow Quad Au Naturale/// Retail R169
My experience:
I like that the Avon Eyeshadow Quads come in a very gorgeous black glossy casing however because the range comes in different shades it is rather difficult to pin-point which colour is which when they are all stacked out, but I ain't complaining alot, because I like the black casing.

The shadows have a great texture, are buildable, blend really well and have minimal fall out.

My verdict:
If you are looking for great matte eyeshadows that will give you that neutral/smokey eye these are the eyeshadows for you.

Tomorrow I will be sharing a Valentines Day FOTD using this eyepalette, please stay tuned.

Garnier Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub Review

Garnier Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub Review
The claim:
Garnier says that the Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub washes away fatigue to reveal radiant skin. Specifically formulated for dull and tired looking skin, it has been enriched with citrus and moringa extracts to instantly liven up skin. The creamy formula is infused with micro-particles that gently exfoliate the skin for deep pore cleansing, leaving your skin feeling clean, fresh and hydrated. For the best results use as part of your daily beauty routine.

The product:
The Garnier Fresh Radiance Boosting Scrub comes in a tube like almost transparent container, which shows the contents of the product which you might assume that they are also orange (at least          I thought so) however the product is clear-ish, smells of that citrus and does contain those micro-particles that they claim to have in the product.

My experience:
I have been a fan of the Garnier Pure Active forever see my old reviews HERE and HERE but I never took notice of the scrub because for a long time I wasn’t scrubbing (if that makes any sense LOL), I picked it up in the middle of last year used it loved it, and now I’m on my second bottle.
I was happy firstly with that smell gosh it smells great, and that the micro-particles were micro (not huge like other face scrubs out there) and that I could actually feel them scrubbing the dirt off my face.
As for removing dull and tiredness I would say that the claim here is also true, as I suffer from excessive dry skin and when I say dry I mean ashy skin all year around, and I need to keep my skin moisturized. I like that even though this product is a scrub, it’s also great for dry skin as it assists with removing that ashy-ness that occurs around my cheek area.

My verdict
If you have dry skin and are looking for that scrub that will just make you happy, I recommend the Garnier scrub. The product does what it claims.

Manicure Monday – Dealing With Grief Quotes

Manicure Monday – Dealing With Grief Quotes
Ooh gosh, I don’t know how to start this but here I go….
Someone really close to me lost someone they love. Having dealt with such in a lot of occasions these past couple of years!!! I thought that I should share some of the quotes that helped me.

“Without you in my arms, I feel an emptiness in my soul. I find myself searching the crowds for your face - I know it's an impossibility, but I cannot help myself.”
Nicholas Sparks, Message In A Bottle

“They say time heals all wounds, but that presumes the source of the grief is finite”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince

“It sucks that we miss people like that. You think you've accepted that someone is out of your life, that you've grieved and it's over, and then bam. One little thing, and you feel like you've lost that person all over again.”
Rachel Hawkins, Demonglass

“You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

“Grief can destroy you --or focus you. You can decide a relationship was all for nothing if it had to end in death, and you alone. OR you can realize that every moment of it had more meaning than you dared to recognize at the time, so much meaning it scared you, so you just lived, just took for granted the love and laughter of each day, and didn't allow yourself to consider the sacredness of it. But when it's over and you're alone, you begin to see that it wasn't just a movie and a dinner together, not just watching sunsets together, not just scrubbing a floor or washing dishes together or worrying over a high electric bill. It was everything, it was the why of life, every event and precious moment of it. The answer to the mystery of existence is the love you shared sometimes so imperfectly, and when the loss wakes you to the deeper beauty of it, to the sanctity of it, you can't get off your knees for a long time, you're driven to your knees not by the weight of the loss but by gratitude for what preceded the loss. And the ache is always there, but one day not the emptiness, because to nurture the emptiness, to take solace in it, is to disrespect the gift of life.”
Dean Koontz, Odd Hours

Weekend Reading | Hello Month of Love

In Out & Around Soweto Blog /// Weekend Reading
“Perfection of effort is not required, by the way. It is the consistency of attempting to work these tools that brings the progress. It’s like anything else. If I want to tone muscle, lifting a ten-pound weight a few times every day will move me toward my goal much quicker than hoisting a fifty-pound barbell once a week. Yes, it really is true: “Slow and steady wins the race.” Just try a little, every day. You’ll see.”

New In | Colours by Foschini Eyeshadow & Blush Set

Foschini Eyeshadow & Blush Set
Foschini Eyeshadow & Blush Set /// from R34.95 till R49.95
Oooh my it's Friday, we made it. I haven't done a "NEW IN"feature in a while and I thought that I should share these gorgeous eyeshadow and blush palettes that I bought at Foschini.

Me being a thrifty person, I always go for items that won't break my budget, cause one can end up spending R850 on a single eyeshadow palette. I just feel like I need to perfect my eyeshadow application technique before I splurge.

The eyeshadows swatches really good, the ones pictured on the left their top part contains matte shades and the bottom part shimmery shades. The top right shadow palette contains 15 shimmery shades then the blusher/bronzer shades are just gorgeous darling.

Foschini doesn't have their Colours range online so you will need to go in-store for these.

Avon Ruby Shock Review

Avon Ruby Shock
To keep the red spirit going on all things red, I thought that I should do a quick review on the Avon's Ruby Shock Lipstick, which I have been using for a long time now,
long time being more than 2 years.
Let's get into .

The claim:
Avon says "It provides vibrant and intense colour in a single application. These 10 bold shades are packed with 50% more pigments than traditional lipstick.".

The product:
The lipsticks comes in a black cardboard box with the name of the lipstick clearly showing. The lipstick also comes in a black case, a transparent top, a sliver trimming with the Avon label and the bottom side has the name of the lipstick and a colour sticker which shows the lipstick shade, and I must say that it is true to colour.
Avon Ruby Shock

My experience:
When I first bought the Ruby Shock lipstick I wasn't sure if I would like it or not but I ended up liking it on my first application and I have been a regular buyer of it since then. It is true that you get a colour pay-off on the first application, and usually with lipsticks that are on this price range you need to apply them a good number of times before the colour pays off. When I buy Avon's Lipsticks I usually buy them when they are on special and I got mine for R69.90 and a few other shades. The only thing that I don't really like is that they transfer but the colour still stays.

My verdict:
Ruby shock is very true to red and is affordable, so if you are looking for a great affordable lipstick that won't budge then this is the one. Plus if you are looking on growing your lipstick collection, I would advise that you take advantage of those 2-for-1 specials that they have almost every month. Avon should bring this colour out on a matte range, just saying.

Revlon Love Is On Review

Revlon Love Is On
Hello February please be good to us…. Can you be so good to us that we get a dozen of red roses every day.
Gosh I love the feeling of being in LOVE and it being the Month of Love what better way to kick off the month than with a fragrance review by Revlon called LOVE IS ON.

Warning “My feed will be red for the next few days and I love it… a lot”.

The claim:
“Love Is On features a seductive blend of masculine and feminine notes to captivate him from the moment you walk in the room.  The flirtatious fragrance bouquet of sweet berry, citrus, and velvety rose intensifies with the sensual heat of ginger, cardamom, and exotic sandalwood. Rich notes of vanilla, amber and musk round out softer notes, developing into a singular, seductive aroma that excites the senses and pulls him close”.

The product:
*Revlon’s Love Is On Eau De Toilette 50 ml retails for R399 comes in a very gorgeous red heart shaped bottle and when you open it, one half opens up (how cute).  When you spray the fragrance a generous amount comes out which is great because you know how other spraying components can be.

Revlon’s Love Is On Eau De Toilette 50 ml
My experience:
When I got the fragrance I was really happy but I couldn’t open it, even though the lid does give you instructions so I packed it away because I didn’t want to break it. (side note: my BFF Khosi spent Christmas with us and when I showed her the fragrance she was like “girl please bring it her”, and walla it was opened. My friend Khosi being a fragrance fanatic she already owned a bottle).  Since I now know how to open the bottle I have been using almost daily because it is gives a great smell but not over powering. I don’t usually spend a lot of money on fragrances and R600 bucks is what I generally spend max on perfumes, in essence I buy the small bottles.

My verdict:
The sweet berry, citrus, ginger and vanilla hit you on the first spray on. I like that the perfume is not too over powering and also not to sweet, it must be that ginger balancing things out. I like that it lasts on me a good 6 to 8 hours because I mostly wear it when I go to work, I’m also not complaining about the price. Overall I’m impressed and happy to say the scents definitely do pull him closer.
